The Computer Media Dealers Association (CMDA) – Mumbai, founded in 1981 is one of India’s oldest IT associations which once stood as a pillar of the industry. However, some internal technical challenges caused a significant decline in the membership. While Mr. Samir Parekh played a crucial role in another IT association for over a decade, Mr. Parekh’s return to CMDA, a move that marked a turning point in reviving the association to its former strength and influence.

At the time of his return to CMDA, the association’s strength had dwindled to just 25 members. Yet, within three years after his return, Mr. Parekh orchestrated a remarkable revival for the association, welcoming back many members who had migrated to other associations. His leadership attracted a diverse spectrum of IT professionals, from laptop dealers, cybersecurity experts, exporters, CCTV specialists, to manufacturers.
Today, CMDA boasts of nearly 225 senior, reputable business owners. Mr. Parekh’s vision and integrity inspired previous members to rejoin with full trust, making CMDA once again a leading force in the India’s IT landscape. This resurgence is a testament to his commitment.
In 2024–25, CMDA flourished with the support of key contributors like Mr. Mihir Shah, Mr. Rajkumar Shaith, Mr. Paresh Patel, Mr. Chetanya Shah, Mr. Devang Gattani, Mr. Nirav Raval, Mr. Bhavesh Gandhi, and Mr. Vivek Gandhi. Their efforts helped to drive successful programs, including a financial literacy session hosted by Ekvity and a major event sponsored by a reputed software firm.
Mr. Parekh also led CMDA’s participation in the prestigious InfoComm event at BKC by organizing high-level meetings with dignitaries such as MLA, Shri Parag Alwani, and IT Minister, Shri Ashish Shelar. These initiatives reinforced CMDA’s influence as a distinct and revitalized entity.
CMDA was honored as The Best IT Association at the 4th NCN SI Partner Summit & Awards 2025 event held at Novotel Hotel, Mumbai on 20th September 2025. Mr. Parekh ensured that other deserving CMDA members were also recognized and awarded by NCN, further solidifying CMDA’s reputation. Former MP, Ms. Poonam Mahajan’s presence added gravitas to the occasion.
Continuing his commitment, Mr. Parekh supported an e-waste awareness session led by Mr. Nirav Raval, Founder of PraanVaayu E-Waste Awareness Foundation, educating members on Mumbai’s AQI and environmental responsibility.
This message celebrates Mr. Parekh’s leadership and the CMDA’s independent success. Today, CMDA stands tall under the leadership of Mr. Parekh as a leading IT association built on renewed strength and unity.
