ProDot Group, an India’s leading manufacturer and provider of printer cartridges, keyboards, mice and cables, has manufacturing plants in New Delhi and UP and employs over 1000 people at different levels. The brand also has an extensive channel network that enables to reach various corners of India. During an interaction with Imaging Solution Magazine, Ms. Aarushi Rajpal, Director, ProDot Group, shares her insights about their manufacturing operations, market expansion, and Make in India.

Please share your insights about the developments in the printing industry.

The printing industry is no longer just about putting ink on paper – it’s evolving into a smart, connected ecosystem powered by Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and automation. At ProDot Group, we see printers transforming into intelligent devices that communicate with users and systems in real time. From predictive maintenance alerts to automatic ordering of consumables, and mobile-driven cloud printing solutions, the future is already here. As part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, these technologies are multiplying the convenience and efficiency of printing across home, enterprise, and government sectors.

How do you strategize your manufacturing and new products and what sets ProDot apart from other manufacturers?

Our approach is rational and market-driven. Whenever we identify a viable business case, we assess if we can manufacture the product efficiently using our existing ecosystem. Given our expertise in plastic injection molding and assembling, we can leverage our capabilities to bring new products to market. Our USP lies in our legacy and experience. We have been in this industry for decades, proving our reliability and ability to adapt to the market needs. Our goal is not just to compete but to lead and sustain long-term growth in the industry.

In your opinion, how the paperless office concept might affect the printing industry in India.

India is a vast country with different industries and regions evolving differently and here customer needs also vary a lot. Some high-end offices might pursue the paperless office concept more actively, but a major portion of the customers in India will continue to use printing for decades to come. So there could minor shifts in demand for printing, but overall printing will continue to grow.

Please share about your outlook about as a domestic cartridge manufacturer.

We at ProDot are into manufacturing toner cartridges and computer peripherals. As far as cartridge manufacturing is concerned, all the domestic manufacturers are focusing on a few fast moving cartridge variants. Currently, most of the components that go into assembling cartridges are being imported from China as they are not available in India. However, in course of time, the Indian manufacturing system will evolve and the Indian manufacturers will be able to manufacturer. Right now AI has little impact on consumables industry, maybe in future it might impact aftermarket products. For Make in India to be successful, we have to maintain high quality and quickly adapt to changes in the market.

What’s your outlook on the current business environment in India?

The Indian ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and there’s tremendous scope for innovation and manufacturing. There has never been a better time to invest in new ideas and ventures. We are excited about the future and look forward to contributing to India’s manufacturing success story. The Indian government is one of the biggest consumers of Imaging & IT products in India. Earlier the government used to tender only for OEM cartridges, but now the government’s focus has shifted to Made in India compatible cartridges and toners. This is a very good development for the domestic manufacturers.

What new Made in India products ProDot plans to launch in the coming months?

ProDot is a staunch supporter of Make in India program, and we continue to increase the share of our Made in India products. We have a lot product in the pipeline to be launched in the coming months, but I cannot reveal the details, until we have complete clarity of our new products.
