Mr. Lalji Patel shares, “We deal mainly in black toner cartridges, black toners, and cartridge parts which form a major portion of our sales and only a small percentage (5%) comes from color laser consumables. We have more than 50 models of compatible laser cartridges to meet the demand for machines and models of different brands. Nowadays, good quality alone cannot sell in the market, comfortable price is also important, so we maintain good quality at affordable prices, which is the motivation for our partners and customers. In a nutshell, our USPs are mainly good quality, affordable pricing and long-term relationships based on trust and transparency.”

Mr. Lalji Patel adds, “We assemble cartridges in India. We import cartridge parts, chips, cells, etc from quality-proven providers in China and procure monochrome toners from the Indian toner manufacturers. We import from China only the monochrome toners for Brother and Samsung printer models because these toners are not yet available in India. We import color toners and parts, for all brands and their machine models, from China. We have customers all across India, but a major portion of them are concentrated in the cities of Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Delhi and our operations are driven by a network of 150 dedicated dealers. We keep on adding new cartridges, as soon as new models of laser printers appear in the market and strive to keep up-to-date so that our partners get the best benefit of the market developments.”

Regarding challenges, their quality policy and future plans, Mr. Lalji Patel concludes, “Though the lockdown did not affect our business much, the increasing freight charges on imports from China by nearly 6 times, rising raw materials costs and theanti-dumping duty on black toners have compelled us to increase the prices of our cartridges and toners by 10 to 15%. Another common challenge faced by the genuine compatible brands in India is the price wars between the brands which are bringing down margins and profits. Next, most customers are attracted to low-quality, cheaply priced Chinese consumables, which in fact cost them more in the long-run. To overcome these issues, all the leading aftermarket imaging players and associations in India should come together, aim to maintain a decent MOP, and educate the users to focus more on quality, not on price alone.Our average annual business growth rate is over 30%. In the coming years, we want to focus more on promoting cartridge parts (for mono and color printers) and assembling color laser toner printer cartridges, besides maintaining our current operations.”
