The 2nd Imaging Solution Global Summit & Entrepreneur Awards 2024, held in association with RT Media on October 19 as part of RemaxWorld Expo 2024 in Zhuhai, China, concluded as a landmark event. Following our inaugural event in 2023, this year’s summit featured a panel discussion on “The Collaboration Opportunities for Global Entrepreneurs in the Indian Imaging Industry.” Eminent entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and brands from the Indian imaging sector shared their insights on how collaborations between global companies and Indian entrepreneurs can create mutually beneficial opportunities, transform India into a manufacturing hub, and elevate the Indian imaging industry to new heights. This passage provides an overview of the panel discussion. Following it, recognition awards were presented to Indian entrepreneurs and professionals, as well as to Chinese brands active in the Indian imaging industry.
The event began with Mr. Swapan Roy, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Imaging Solution Magazine, introducing the gathering, followed by an insightful opening note from Mr. David Gibbons, Director at RT Media. The summit attracted several leading entrepreneurs, brands, and traders from both the Indian and Chinese imaging industries.
In his introduction, Mr. Swapan Roy stated, “Welcome to the 2nd Imaging Solution Global Summit & Entrepreneur Awards 2024. This event aims to highlight the numerous opportunities within the Indian imaging industry and to encourage collaborations between global entrepreneurs and Indian companies. We are excited to recognize and reward leading entrepreneurs and professionals from the Indian imaging industry, as well as foreign companies and brands contributing to its growth. Imaging Solution Magazine is proud to be the first media outlet to present such awards on a global platform like RemaxWorld Expo 2024. I extend my gratitude to all the panelists and attendees for joining us, and especially to Mr. David Gibbons of RT Media for facilitating this platform. I hope the awards motivate the winners to further advance the Indian imaging industry. Thank you once again!”
Mr. David Gibbons, Director at RT Media added, “A warm welcome to all of you. I’m pleased to speak before you today. The Indian imaging market is unique. We are living in an era of rapid technological and market changes. AI is poised to dominate the imaging industry. While the imaging sector in developed Western countries is shrinking due to the rise of paperless offices, it continues to grow in India, China, Brazil, Russia, and various countries in the Middle East and Africa, presenting ongoing opportunities. Indian entrepreneurs should focus on exploring opportunities abroad, alongside meeting domestic demand. While we cannot alter price sensitivity, we can change our approach to new opportunities. Success will come from understanding market dynamics, listening to customers, and leveraging opportunities. I wish you all great success and growth.”
The opening note was followed by an engaging panel discussion on “The Collaboration Opportunities for Global Entrepreneurs in the Indian Imaging Industry.” Esteemed manufacturers, brand owners, and traders from the Indian imaging sector provided valuable insights on how global businesses can enhance opportunities through partnerships with Indian enterprises and elevate domestic manufacturing.
The discussion centered on the vast potential in the Indian imaging industry, highlighting how collaborations between global entrepreneurs and their Indian counterparts could benefit both sides and the Indian imaging sector overall. India is one of the fastest-growing economies, with the imaging sector thriving and expected to maintain its growth momentum for at least the next two decades. The Indian government actively promotes domestic manufacturing through incentives and tax rebates for both Indian and foreign companies, presenting significant benefits for foreign entities that collaborate with Indian entrepreneurs. This event was designed to catalyze and motivate foreign companies to engage with Indian businesses.

With a substantial market supported by a well-trained workforce, along with mature transportation infrastructure, India presents numerous advantages for both global and local investors. The government is also encouraging domestic manufacturing through tax rebates and financial incentives aimed at reducing imports. I invite our esteemed panelists to share their insights on the opportunities India offers to both Indian and global entrepreneurs, the factors that make it an ideal manufacturing location for imaging consumables, and how Indian manufacturers can cater to both domestic and export markets while elevating the Indian imaging industry.”
Mr. Pramod Rajpal, Founder & CEO, DIC Techware Pvt Ltd (Brand: ProDot)
“I thank Mr. David Gibbons and Mr. Swapan Roy for organizing this event and showcasing India on a global platform. We began our journey 35 years ago manufacturing dot matrix ribbons, and have since expanded our portfolio to include imaging consumables and IT accessories. Today, we are among the few manufacturers of laser toner cartridges. The Indian government is encouraging domestic manufacturing through import duties on certain products. We can enhance manufacturing through the latest technology and consumption patterns. While we currently focus on cartridges, the future may involve components, printers, and copiers. Collaborations with Chinese entrepreneurs can be beneficial through technology sharing.”
Mr. Shashank Ruiwale, President & Director, Indigo Prints Smart Pvt Ltd (Brand: Formujet)
“We founded Indigo Prints in 1989 and now provide consumables across various verticals including office printing, home printing, and industrial inks. The Indian imaging industry is still in its nascent stages, with much potential ahead. The economy is growing at over 7% annually, supported by substantial domestic consumption. The government aims to attract foreign investment for manufacturing in India. As digitization grows, it will drive further use of computers and printers, boosting consumption of imaging consumables. There are many opportunities beyond cartridges, including inks and printer parts. We need to prioritize technology and quality to succeed and expand. India has a wealth of technically trained manpower and natural resources that can be leveraged for industry and national benefit. We must shift from assembly to total manufacturing—India is poised to take off as a manufacturing hub.”
Mr. Masood Khan, President, Image Star Pvt Ltd (Brand: Image King)
“Good morning! I feel honored to speak on this global platform. Thank you, Mr. David and Mr. Swapan, for this opportunity. Our company started with dot matrix consumables and has evolved into a leading brand with a wide range of imaging products. For us, the customer is paramount. We are the largest importer of compatible laser cartridges in India. As suggested, we should first meet domestic demand before exploring foreign markets. This requires strong R&D and manufacturing products that match OEM standards. The government offers significant support for domestic manufacturing, and with the economy growing nearly 7%, we have a stronger infrastructure and a large, skilled workforce. We must take the initiative to explore and capitalize on these opportunities.”
Mr. Sandeep Sanghvi, Managing Director, Itone (India) Pvt Ltd (Brand: Itone)
“Good morning, everyone! I thank Mr. Swapan and Mr. David for organizing this forum. Itone has been in the industry for many years, providing toners and other accessories. India has a substantial domestic consumption base. Once entrepreneurs begin manufacturing for the Indian market, they can scale up to international markets. We have a competitive, skilled youth population, improving infrastructure, and government support for ‘Make in India,’ all of which will help position India as a manufacturing and export hub. Recent developments, such as the imposition of an 11% duty on black toner cartridges, will boost remanufacturing and support small businesses. Consumers are increasingly discerning and seek high-quality compatible products at reasonable prices. We must maintain high quality to succeed globally. The right approach can unlock immense opportunities for Indian manufacturers and brands in the imaging industry.”
Mr. Dhruv Mahajan, International BDM, Ninestar Image Tech Pvt Ltd.
“As the Business Development Manager for Ninestar in India, I’ve observed the imaging industry evolve from refilling and remanufacturing to domestic manufacturing. ‘Make in India’ presents significant opportunities for both Indian and global companies to collaborate and succeed. India is a vast market poised for growth in the coming years. We need to emphasize quality and leverage the latest technologies. I am confident that India is ripe with opportunities for manufacturers and foreign collaborators in the imaging industry.”
Conclusion
Over the past decade, India’s infrastructure has seen considerable improvement, coupled with increasing government support for manufacturing. The nation boasts a large, skilled workforce, and its economy has been growing at an annual rate of approximately 7%. These factors are strong drivers for domestic manufacturing. The Indian imaging industry has been steadily expanding and is projected to grow for decades to come. These conditions also present significant opportunities for global companies to invest in India and collaborate with Indian firms to manufacture domestically, fostering a win-win situation for all involved. All panelists unanimously agree that India is on track to become a manufacturing hub in the coming years. Let us all contribute in whatever way we can to transform India into a manufacturing and exporting powerhouse.
