Incepted in 1994, the Mumbai-based Premier Computers is one of the most trusted providers of a large array of toner cartridges, cartridge parts, laser printer parts, dot matrix parts, plotter parts and inkjet printer parts, and Teflon sleeves under their brand name PRM. In an interaction with Imaging Solution magazine, Mr. Devansh Sanghavi, Chief Operating Officer of Premier Computers, S/o Ashish Sanghavi, Founder of Premier Computers, shares about his entry into his father’s business, his future plans and vision.
Please brief us about your background.
I completed my B. Tech from the IIT-Bombay in 2015 and spent the last 8 years enriching and honing my skills across diverse sectors such as investment banking, FMCG, and venture capital with companies like Zomato, Groww, Ola, Razorpay, etc. This experience helped me to observe firsthand how high performing organizations operate and assimilate valuable insights. Now, I am trying to use the experience I acquired for the benefit of our own business at PRM. I joined my father’s business at Premier Computers (PRM) in April 2022.
What role do you currently play at PRM and how do you feel in your new role?
During the initial months at PRM, I dedicated my time to gaining a thorough understanding of various functions within the company and to learn the PRM’s product line, brand policy, values, and partner network, as my knowledge of the imaging industry was limited. Given our lean structure, each team member at PRM assumes multiple roles, spanning from procurement, sales & marketing, operations to accounting.
What have you learnt from your father so far and what improvements do you want to initiate on your own? My father built Premier Computers from scratch over the last three decades based on persistence, ethical practices, and customer-centricity. I have absorbed invaluable business lessons from him, but above all, the importance of prioritizing our customers’ needs, even if it means sacrificing the short-term profits. He instilled in me the philosophy of optimizing for long-term customer value. In the recent years, PRM has experienced significant growth, and my focus now lies on streamlining the processes in a way they will enable us to deliver faster and improved services to our customers. To this end, we are making strategic investments in specialized technology and acquiring top talent aimed at enhancing the overall customer-experience. Now, my current focus is on pushing the boundaries and elevating the PRM brand to new heights, as much as I could.
What new products PRM has launched in the last six months and what do you plan for the coming months?
We invest significant amounts of time and money on R&D in order to provide the best and latest products to our customers and continually extend our range of products and models in every category. We take pride in maintaining one of the most extensive range of laser toner cartridges in the market. The positive feedback we have been receiving from our customers has been truly gratifying. Also, we have made substantial investments in upgrading our toner powder bottling infrastructure. We will continue to explore new opportunities and expand our product line to address the emerging customer requirements. Our focus remains on providing our valued customers with the best-in class offerings, exceptional service, and better experience.
Where do you want PRM brand to be in 5 years from now?
PRM is already an established leader in the imaging industry delivering superior quality and value at the best prices. Our goal for the next five years is to deepen our customer relationships by offering personalized solutions and provide superior customer satisfaction. To achieve this, we are heavily investing in R&D to stay ahead of the market trends and anticipate the evolving needs of the customers. What message would you like to give the young entrepreneurs?
Young Generation entrepreneurs should focus on winning customer loyalty by offering quality products, best possible service, and high customer satisfaction. They should focus on developing a strong brand image on long-term basis rather than carving for short-term financial benefits.
