Polyton Nano Technology founded in 1999 in Rajkot (Gujarat) manufactures and provides world-class toners (monochrome and color) for printers and copiers to the Indian users and to OEMs under their brand name Polyton. Polyton started manufacturing mono toners in 2005 and color toners in 2012. Now they have plans to manufacture and launch digital offset ink in 2024. Under the brand name XOLOR, the company exports toners to several countries including Dubai, Egypt, Indonesia, Vietnam, Germany, USA, Russia, etc. In an interaction with Imaging Solution magazine, Mr. Prajesh Patel, Founder, Polyton, shares their company’s technological innovations, business strategy, how they did on 2023 and their plans for 2024 and beyond.
Mr. Prajesh Patel comments, “We are the leading manufacturer and provider of color toners for printers and copiers in India with no competitor at present. Our toners are far superior to China-made compatible color toners! About 95% of our color toners are exported and only 5% are supplied to the domestic market. Next, we are going to manufacture and launch digital offset printer inks in 2024 for which we have already done trial production successfully. We will start commercial production of these inks by April 2024. We have increased the production of our Made in India toners significantly in 2023. Currently, we manufacture nearly 200 tonnes of mono toner and 100 tonnes of color toner; we will continue to increase volumes in steps as the demand increases.”
Polyton provides compatible color toners and cartridges for a variety of models of the leading printer and copier brands such as Xeikon, Kodak, Canon, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Toshiba, HP, Samsung and Sharp. Polyton invented a ground-breaking high tech CryoMilled Technology, which is a unique manufacturing process that reduces the wastage and cost of production of toners significantly besides improving quality.
Elaborating on their CryoMilled Technology to manufacture toners, Mr. Prajesh Patel comments, “After extensive R&D in our labs, we invented our CryoMilled Technology, which can be used for manufacturing mono as well as color toners. With the traditional technology, which the manufacturers across the globe use, nearly 20% of the raw material goes as a waste which has to be separated and recycled and that involves extra cost, effort, time and electricity. Our unique CryoMilled technology reduces this waste, efforts, costs and power consumption, and helps to maximize toner production and deliver toners of international standards. This technology is not currently available with other manufacturers. We applied for patent for our CryoMilled Technology and once we get the patent, we can sell this technology and license to other color toner makers nationally and internationally.”
Polyton, at present, has three state-of-the art manufacturing plants in Gujarat: one in Rajkot (Gujarat) and two in Morbi (Gujarat), backed by the best equipped R&D departments and professional teams.
Talking about their future plans, Mr. Prajesh Patel adds, “We procure raw materials from the reputed providers in Japan, Germany and USA-based and some from the local Indian raw materials providers and manufacturers; we stopped using Chinese raw materials. Our exports of color toners did very well in 2023, and we are expecting more growth in 2024. And we are getting excellent feedback from our overseas customers for our toners. We want to significantly expand our production capacity of color toners in 2024. We also want to set up toner manufacturing units in Vietnam and Thailand in collaboration with our dealer-partners there, because this will help us to avoid shipping delays and costs of exporting to these countries. Our discussions are going on with the partners there in these countries. We want to establish XOLOR as a leading global brand for color toners. In 2024, we will also export digital offset printer inks, once we start commercial production. We are quite optimistic about our growth and progress in 2024.”
