CMDA (Computers & Media Dealers Association) is one of the premier associations of IT media and imaging consumables in India. Founded in 1993, the association works for the betterment computer media and imaging consumables trader community and strives to increase awareness amongst the consumers and traders. Sameer Parekh, President of CMDA – Mumbai (who is also the President of TAIT, Mumbai), shares, “I have been the President of CMDA, Mumbai, for the past 15 years. CMDA has been playing an active role in helping the members by updating them about the latest government rules, tax laws, market trends, etc. Today, we have nearly 100 active members in our association. Before we take in members, we screen them carefully so that only the people with honesty and integrity will be part of the association. The CMDA also negotiates with the government on the policy-related issues whenever it is necessary. Recently we conducted ‘CMDA Knowledge Series’ which was attended by many members who actively participated in the event. We have an arbitration committee to deal with the issues surfacing between traders, vendors and the government. We also guide the members how to avoid bad debts by doing business with the right and trustworthy partners. We give the members the moral strength needed to do business smoothly and confidently. As a part of my personal contribution, I always try to give my best to the association and help the members. In the next 2 years, we want to strengthen the association to enhance its effectiveness and recognition. In future, we want to merge CMDA with TAIT—one of the leading IT associations in India.”
