Recently, in an interaction with Imaging Solution, P. Ramesh, CEO of Sree Vinayaka Systems, shared the new trends in customer habits and market demand in the imaging industry in Kerala in the context of COVID-19 and the social-restrictions and lockdown that followed. Sree Vinayaka Systems, incepted in 2002 is a Trivandrum (Kerala) based provider of imaging products and accessories and IT peripherals. At the heart of Trivandrum city, the company has its well-equipped, state-of-the-art showroom-cum-refilling center and an office from where they carry out their operations. The company deals in OEM and compatible imaging consumables for printers of HP, Canon, Epson, Samsung and Brother brands, besides others; for copiers, they provide only toners. Sree Vinayaka Systems started refilling toner & inkjet cartridges in 2007 in their in-house refilling center equipped with the best testing equipment and quality toner powders, inks and spares. The company also sells IT peripherals such as pen drives, keyboards, mice and routers.

Ramesh comments, “Business dropped to almost nil for nearly one and half months during lockdown, but for the last one month the business has picked up a lot. As colleges and universities started online classes, many students started purchasing inkjet MFDs for their homework. In the last month, we sold nearly 200 inkjet printers, whereas earlier we used to sell about 50 machines a month on the average. Also color inkjet printers are selling very well. On the color inkjet side Epson, HP and Canon machines are selling well. We sell only a small number of color laser printers, whereas monochrome laser printers are selling well. Imaging products form about 80% of our business and IT peripherals nearly 20%.”
Sree Vinayaka Systems has 250 well-connected dealers in Trivandrum and the surrounding areas. The company sells high-quality ink and laser printers and offers cartridges for HP, Canon, Samsung and Brother brand machines (provides both OEM and compatibles cartridges). The company employs well-trained staff to handle their service and business operations.
Ramesh adds, “As for compatible cartridges, we are dealing in Aryan, Alphabet, ProDot and JetTec brands. In case of inkjet and ribbon cartridges, we are using ProDot brand. For copiers, we sell only toner powder; we don’t sell copier machines. On the refilling side, we refill nearly 500 toner cartridges and 150 ink cartridges a month. Today, people prefer compatible cartridges over remanufactured cartridges, so we are not remanufacturing cartridges nowadays; we are focusing only on selling the compatible cartridges and doing refilling.”
The other products Sree Vinayaka Systems sells include ribbons, copier papers, glossy papers, power & data cables, antivirus software, mouse, keyboards, speakers, UPSs and all types of toner cartridges spares.
“Quality products and service are our main selling points. Then we maintain good and long-term relations will all our customers. We use efficient and advanced methods while refilling cartridges and focus more on the quality of products and services. To supplement our business, we recently added masks, sanitizers and IR thermometers to our portfolio which are selling well. Currently, we want to focus on whatever we have been doing and give our best.”
Some of the recognition awards Sree Vinayaka Systems won include Sales Excellence Award from ProDot for the financial year 2009-10; Best Refiller Award in 2011 and the Best Imaging Partner of 2015 Award from imaging media: Best Performer in Inkjet Category, Best Performer in Laser Consumables and Performance Excellence Award from Canon.
