Epson has expanded its SureLab series of high-quality production photo printers with the introduction of the SL-D500. Providing users with an extremely compact, mobile and cost-efficient solution to the production of 10x15cm / 9x13cm prints, the SL-D500 offers a range of significant benefits over D2T2 (Dye Diffusion Thermal Transfer) printers. It is expected to prove popular with existing markets, such as photo retailers, copy shops, card makers and at events, as well as opening doors to new sectors including hotels and artists’ studios who may be looking to diversify.
With very low power consumption, and built with sustainability in mind, the SL-D500 is a low-cost solution for the production of photo or double-sided cards, small books and table calendars. Offering exceptional levels of image quality, it is ideal for complementing or replacing dye-sublimation printers in retail photo outlets or at events.
Lightweight and compact, the printer is also stackable, allowing a production tower to be formed of up to three printers, with a footprint small enough (0.105m 2) to fit into a typical retail outlet or onto a hospitality venue counter. Operation is made even easier with the SureLab’s CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System), enabling the production of up to 100 prints per printer (300 prints in total from a tower of 3 units) without user intervention, all from a footprint of less than two A4 sheets.
In addition to its light and space-efficient design, and its ability to function using either a portable battery pack or mains power, the SL-D500 features an integral transportation lock, making it highly portable. This makes the printer an ideal choice for event photographers looking for a solution that provides easy, high-quality onsite production. Offering both simplex and duplex printing modes, the SL-D500 includes extensive connectivity options (USB/LAN/Wi-Fi) and supports the Epson Cloud Solution PORT and OrderController. It can easily work alongside other SureLabs as well as Epson’s DTG (Direct to Garment), signage and large format printers, and can be managed via the integral panel or from a compatible app.
