HK Haoyinbao Group Co, Ltd., better known as HYB, manufactures and delivers high-quality photocopier and MFP products globally from Zhuhai.
In an interaction with Imaging Solution Magazine, Mr. Kim Lee Siyang, Deputy General Manager and Sales Director, and Ms. Fajr Noor ul ain, Sales Manager of HYB Toner – HK Haoyinbao Group Co, Ltd. share insights into their company’s growth, market strategies, and expansion plans in India.
Could you tell us about the company’s journey and its current position in the market?
HYB Toner has been in the industry for 25 years, and we are currently celebrating our 26th year. Our journey began under the leadership of our founder and owner, Mr. Vincent Chen, who focused on the photocopier business. Initially, we started by offering replacement toner cartridges for OEM photocopiers. Over the years, we’ve expanded our services and product offerings to become a one-stop shop for copier solutions in the aftermarket. Today, we not only supply toner cartridges but also provide spare parts, remanufacturing components, and various other solutions that cater to the needs of our customers.
How has the business evolved over the years, and what has been the main focus of HYB’s operations?
At the beginning, our primary focus was on toner cartridges. However, as time passed and our customer base grew, we realized the increasing demand for spare parts and components. Now, around 60% of our business is focused on toner and refilling toner cartridges. Additionally, we’ve expanded into offering remanufactured parts and solutions for the photocopier industry. Today, HYB offers nearly everything that our customers need for copier solutions, and that’s our core focus—providing comprehensive solutions for the aftermarket copier market.
Can you describe the two distinct market segments you’ve identified?
The market has diversified into two very different segments. On one side, the low-end market is becoming increasingly unprofitable. On the other side, we’ve noticed that distributors who primarily relied on original equipment are now looking into compatible products. However, they often face challenges when they choose the wrong partners. This shift has presented us with a significant business opportunity in the high-end segment, which focuses on premium quality and performance.
How is HYB positioning itself in the high-end segment, and what steps have you taken to cater to this market?
To cater to the high-end market, we’ve made significant investments in research and development. Our R&D operations are based in Japan, where we focus on developing our own toner formulations, patents, and controllers. This investment enables us to produce high-quality toners, including those that offer low fusing temperatures and premium color performance. This focus on high-end products allows us to differentiate ourselves in a market traditionally dominated by OEMs, providing a compelling alternative for customers who value quality over price.
What is your view on the Indian market, and how does HYB plan to expand there?
Many people have differing opinions about the Indian market, and I believe some of our competitors have misunderstood the dynamics here. From our perspective, the Indian market is increasingly focused on quality, and this is where HYB sees a significant opportunity. Through our research and database insights, we’ve found that there are large importers and distributors in India who prioritize premium toner quality, often sourced from Japan, and cater to the high-end market. These companies are growing steadily, while those focusing on pricing alone are shrinking year by year. At HYB, we aim to tap into this quality-focused market, and we’re looking for authorized distributors in India who share our values of quality and service.
What is the future outlook for HYB in the Indian market?
The Indian market, despite its challenges, is growing across various industries, and we believe there is a bright future for businesses that focus on quality. We see great potential for HYB in India, especially as the market continues to evolve.
