Epson with its new innovations has turned around the inkjet printing segment. With inkjet printing reviving in the last decade many other brands such as HP and Canon also launched inkjet printers. Today, inkjet printers due to their low cost per print and easy availability of inks are widely used in homes and small offices. Statice Inc, founded in Noida (UP), is a fast growing, leading manufacturer and provider of a wide range of top quality inkjet inks (black and color) for the printers of the leading brands link Epson, HP, Canon & Brother under their brand name, OSA.
Mr. Ombir Singh, Proprietor, OSA shares, “We manufacture black and color and black inks in our plant in India. Our USPs include high print quality, consistency, no clogging on the printhead. We subject all our inks to repeated testing and they undergo strict quality control norms before they are delivered tothe customers. This way we maintain excellent quality and reputation in the market. Inkjet inks are our main products where 80% of our sales come from the inks segment and only 20% from selling toner cartridges. Within our inks portfolio, color inks form 70% and black 30%. The Quality standards of both our inks, both black and color, are exceptionally high.”
When asked their company’s unique name Mr. Ombir Singh comments, the name Statice was derived from the famous flower plant Statice, which bears flowers of different colors. Normally a flower plant produces flowers of one color and the same color although its life. But each statice plant produces flowers of different colors which is its special property. Similarly, by naming their company Statice, we want to send across the message that their company offers inks of multiple colors with high quality and consistency under-one-roof.
Mr. Ombir Singh adds, “Our principle is not to compromise on quality and we maintain long-term relationships and all our deals of transparent. Our products are available on all the leading online portals soon. However, we will maintain price-parity between the offline and online channels so that our offline partners won’t suffer. In the last 2 years, the number of inkjet printers usage particularly in the home and SOHO segments increased several fold and this led to a great increase in the demand of compatible inkjet inks several fold. We have customers across India.”
The inks of OSA brand come at highly affordable prices 40-50% of OEM inks-but deliver print quality similar to OEMs. Recently, OSA has also started retailingalso in addition to selling through channel.
Talking about the challenges, Mr. Ombir Singh elaborates, “Most of the Indian buyers still believe that imported compatible inks have higher quality compared to domestically manufactured inks which is a misconception. We are trying our best to educate the partners and users that Made in India products can havequality comparable to OEM products.”
Talking about their Make in India policy and future plans, Mr. Ombir Singh states, “We are staunch supporters of the government’s Make in India and AatmaNirbhar programs. We are already getting support from GeM for Made in India compatibles. We want to increase thequantity of our inks in line with the increasing demand and establish OSA as pan India brands in the coming years. About 90% of the raw materials we procure from within India and about 10% which are not available in India we import from abroad. Since we do not import, drop in rupee value against dollar has no negative impact on us, but those who depend on importing most raw materials to manufacture inks will have shell out more onimports. We want to manufacture dye sublimation and large format inks by the end of 2023. We also want to expand our retailing while at the same time focusing on selling through the channel.”
