Kindly brief us about yourself.
Our journey began three decades ago with the introduction of iconic blue-ribbon cartridges. Today, we proudly stand as the largest manufacturer of printer cartridges, keyboards, and mice in India. What brings me immense pleasure is not just our product range, but the fact that our replacement rate remains remarkably low. We have a dedicated workforce of a thousand individuals across India, and many of our employees’ families have been with us for years.
Could you tell us about the recent additions to ProDot’s product portfolio?
We have expanded our offerings to include networking cables and CCTV solutions. Currently, we’re planning to further diversify our portfolio by introducing more products like surge protectors, surge sockets, LAN cables, HDMI cables, and various other types of cables.
What is ProDot’s current manufacturing capacity, and are there expansion plans?
At present, our manufacturing capacity stands at approximately 15 million products. However, we are actively planning to expand by setting up another unit. This expansion will not only increase our product lines but also involve the incorporation of more automated machinery and skilled manpower.
How does ProDot contribute to the ‘Make in India’ initiative?
ProDot is synonymous with ‘Made in India’ products, and this has been a defining strength for us. All our product packages proudly bear the label of being made in India. As we continue to expand, our focus remains on incorporating more products into our lineup that are manufactured within the country. We hope to leverage the positive momentum of the ‘Make in India’ initiative to propel our brand even further.
What changes have you witnessed in the market over the years?
The market has evolved significantly, becoming more responsive and receptive towards Indian products. Previously, consumers might not have paid much attention to the origin of a product, but now there’s a noticeable shift. People are actively looking for products that are made in India, and this trend has been encouraging for us.
How do you see India’s position as a global hub for manufacturing?
With the introduction of Production-Linked Incentives (PLIs) and various other incentives, coupled with the establishment of industrial hubs, India is on the brink of becoming the next major global manufacturing hub. We are witnessing significant strides in this direction, and the growth potential is substantial.
What opportunities do you perceive in the Indian market?
While many aspects of the market have evolved, the core principles and values remain constant. The general trade system has seen variations, requiring us to adapt to new adjustments. However, opportunities abound, and with the right strategies, companies can continue to thrive in this dynamic environment.
What is ProDot’s current focus as a brand?
Our current focus is on exploring export opportunities, especially in Southeast Asian countries. We are also eyeing expansion into African markets. Presently, we are performing well in Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan. We intend to scale up and establish a strong presence in these regions.
What message would you like to convey to the industry and your buyers?
In these times of rapid change, it’s crucial for all of us to stay positive and motivated. The market is rife with opportunities for those willing to seize them. Our collective goal should be to bring innovative technology to the forefront, delivering the best quality products at affordable prices. It’s a time for collaboration and innovation.
