Ravi Choudhary shares, “Our customers and demand come from pan-India. We have branches in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai, besides our Head Office in Mumbai, so that we can deliver products and services to our customers in different regions promptly. Our mission is to procure the world’s best imaging products and make them available at affordable prices to Indian recyclers and users. We import mainly from quality-proven providers from abroad. Since quality comes at a price, our products are affordable but not cheap compared to market products. We never cut down quality just to make some quick bucks. Our brand is doing well and the USPs of our brand are high quality, consistency, and a wide range of products. As we focus on high quality, our prices are higher than the prices of the market average products. Also as the Alphabet brand has been in the market for over a decade and good reputation, we enjoy customer and partner goodwill.”
Alphabet imports products from reputed, quality-proven companies from the USA, Japan, Korea, China, etc. Alphabet has its own R&D team to select and develop the right products procured from various International vendors. Alphabet focuses on choosing the products that are best suitable to Indian recycling and refilling conditions and needs. Alphabet aims to ensure that the provided consumables and components work well under varying conditions of humidity, temperature, etc.
Ravi Chaudhary comments, “Business was dull due to lockdown and Covid-19 in 2020, but starting from Jan 2021 business started picking up. Laser toners, toner cartridges, etc are doing well but copier sales have come down during and after lockdown and have not picked up yet significantly. We hope things will become normal in the coming months. Due to the imposition of anti-dumping duty on toners, the toner prices have gone up by 10-15%. We import 90% of our toners from China and the rest from Japan and Korea. We purchase some toners from the Indian toner manufacturers.”
Alphabet’s personnel have vast experience and expertise in product identification, import, inventory management, packaging, logistics, and customer support. Prompt and wide-range availability of the products throughout India is one of the company’s main objectives.
Reflecting on the current trends in the market, Ravi Chaudhary expresses, “Nowadays due to intense competition, price-wars, invasion of market by low-grade Chinese compatibles, the business has become disorganized and margins have come down. To make quick money, many vendors in India are competing with each other by cutting down prices and sometimes quality. This is bringing down market operating prices (MOP) and also quality.”
Besides their branch offices in Chennai, Delhi, and Hyderabad, and HO in Mumbai, the company has a dedicated network of over 1000 committed dealers and channel partners spread across all important cities and towns like Bangalore, Guwahati, Pune, Bhopal, Indore, Ranchi, Ahmadabad, Kanpur, Cochin, etc.
Ravi Chaudhary reveals, “My message to the industry is the imaging industry players should not go about cutting down prices and then cutting down quality to make quick bucks which in the long run will become a detriment to all. Instead, they should focus more on providing good quality and maintaining decent MOP so that sincere and honest player can do business confidently. For the future, we want to focus more on quality and service and expand our business. For now, we want to focus on whatever we have been doing; have no plans for any new ventures at present.”
