The spread of Covid-19 in 2020 has changed the way people work and do business as never before. Closure of educational institutes, offices, etc, and Work From Home (WFH) & Study From Home (SFH) have set new trends in the imaging industry further increasing the demand for printers and consumables. The government recognized the injury being caused to the domestic manufacturers due to imports from China, Taiwan, and Malaysia, and finally, after following the due process they upheld the antidumping duty with an aim to boost domestic manufacturing of black toners. Indian Toners Developers Ltd (ITDL), the largest domestic manufacturer of toner powders for laser printers and copiers in India, in interaction with Imaging Solution magazine, Mr. Ganesh Iyer, General Manager, ITDL, shares about their company’s policy, state-of-the-art manufacturing infrastructure, quality standards, ethics, and future plans.
Ganesh Iyer comments, “Market for toners has started picking up at the beginning of 2021 with schools and colleges started operating. The year 2020 was tough for us as it was for every other business. However, we used the available time in 2020 during a pandemic to gear up our channel, interact & engage with them more closely and educate the partners. We conducted a lot of channel follow-up activities. The positive side is toner market is growing in India and will continue to grow despite the increasing trends of paperless office and digitization. We are manufacturing all types of toners (Except color toners)available in the market and we also added several new formulations to our toner portfolio. The government by imposing anti-dumping duty has given a further push to domestic manufacturers like us. In 2021-22, we expect a greater demand as most of the institutes and offices set work on full-scale.”
“The Indian government’s support and encouragement for domestic manufacturing have been a good fillip to ITDL, which is the leading domestic manufacturer of toners in India and we will continue to maintain our rank in future. We maintain the quality and consistency of international standards. We have over 125 distributors across India. This year, we are going to foray into new geographical areas where our presence is still not strong. We maintain regular communication with our partners and update them about the new developments in our portfolio and technologies. We try to provide the best possible margins to the partners adds Ganesh Iyer
