Alphabet Imaging Technologies LLP is a Mumbai-based company incorporated in February 2015 (earlier the company had been operating in the name of IT Essentials that was founded in 1998). Alphabet is a prominent importer and distributor of Imaging supplies for the remanufacturing, recycling & refilling market in India. The products the company supplies under their brand name Alphabet include OPC drum, toner powder, blades, chips, mag rollers, PCR, bulk inkjet inks, CISS, compatible toner cartridges, etc. These products are imported from reputed companies like USA, Japan, Korea, China, etc. Alphabet, led by its Founders, Ravi Chaudhary has been a Market Leader in India.

In an interaction with Imaging Solution, Ravi Choudhary shares, “Our mission is to procure the world’s best Imaging products & make them available to Indian recyclers at affordable prices so that Indian recycling Industry can grow together with the IT Industry in India. We import mainly from quality providers from abroad. Our main focus is providing the best possible quality at reasonable prices. Since quality comes at a price, our products are affordable but not the cheapest as compared to market products.”

About the challenges the company is facing, Ravi Choudhary clarifies, “Increasing digitization is decreasing the volumes printed, so it is slowing down the growth of printing business. Next, in spite of all the talk about compatibles usage, OEM consumables still dominate the market, as the users think only OEM products give the best quality. Then the low quality consumables from China and the fakes that are flooding the market have been in general, spoiling the image of the compatible consumables industry. Many users who are just price-sensitive purchase low-cost, low-quality goods. The consumers need to be educated regarding quality.”

Alphabet has its own R&D team to select and develop the right products procured from various International vendors. Alphabet focuses on choosing the products that are suitable to Indian recycling and refilling conditions & needs. While choosing the company makes sure that toners or OPC drums provided work in all conditions like high humidity, higher temperature, etc. The company’s personnel have a vast experience and expertise in product identification, import, inventory management, packaging, logistics and customer support. Availability of the products throughout the India is one of the company’s main objectives. Today, Alphabet maintains its own branches in several cities like Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad, besides their head office in Mumbai. In addition to its branch offices, the company has a dedicated network of channel partners spread across all important cities and town like Bangalore, Guwahati, Pune, Bhopal, Indore, Ranchi, Ahmadabad, Kanpur, Cochin, etc.

Choudhary adds, “We have an efficient distribution network that includes over 1000 committed dealers spread across the country. The latest trend is people are moving more towards compatibles from OEM products and remanufactured products. Color market on inkjet side is growing fast compared to laser. As a far as the expected GST is concerned, we hope it will have some positive impact but we have to wait and see how it will be implemented and how it will work in practice. Regarding Make in India, we are not venturing into manufacturing in the immediate future, so I cannot comment on that at present. Major portion of our sales come from Western Part of India (Maharashtra and Gujarat), though we are present pan-India. In future, we want to expand our brand presence and reach to other areas where our presence is not yet strong.”
