Goel Imports India is a leading New Delhi-based importer, trader, supplier, wholesaler, and distributor of imaging products and also office supplies. Goel Imports provides imaging products in bulk as well as under their own brand name Gi2. The company, led by Mr. Tarun Gupta and his son Mr. Sanyam Gupta, provides compatible laser toner powders, cartridges, and office automation machines & their consumables. Recently, they added new office equipment to their portfolio. In an interaction with Imaging Solution magazine, Mr. Tarun Gupta shares their company’s latest operations and outlook.
Mr. Tarun Gupta shares, “We recently added heavy-duty lamination machines, photo glossy paper, die cutters, and paper cutters to our product line and all these to be sold under our brand name Gi2. Our laser toner powders and cartridges are also getting very good demand from our pan-India customers. Quality is our main selling point and we import only from the standard and tested providers from China. Our prices are affordable but not the lowest as quality comes at a cost. We have a pan-India customer base and it is growing.”
Goel Imports brand Gi2 is a popular brand among the customers across India and the product portfolio under their brand includes OPC drums for laser cartridges, toner powders and compatible toner cartridges, lamination machines, lamination pouches, etc with a customer-base spread pan-India. Goel Imports also provides these products in bulk unbranded for those who need them.
Mr. Tarun Gupta adds, “Our branch and warehouse in Mumbai is doing well; we are able to provide the products within short time intervals to our customers in South Indian states of Karnataka, Telangana, etc and also to those in the West Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat; the supply time intervals have reduced significantly and taken us several steps closer to our partners and customers.”
Regarding market trends and challenges, Mr. Tarun Gupta asserts, “Low-quality, cheap goods imported from China are corrupting the market, misleading the customers and upsetting the market operating prices. Some providers are undercutting the prices just to make some quick money, but in the long run, this attitude will hurt everyone. All the important players in the imaging industry should work together to draw some guidelines as to how to work according to a code of conduct to promote quality and maintain decent operating prices, instead of each industry member acting his own way. Both providers and users should concentrate more on quality and less on price. The industry players should focus on doing ethical business and shed and discourage unethical business practices. We also need some strong imaging industry associations which will work objectively to bring in a certain order and organize the Indian imaging industry which still remains unorganized.”
Mr. Sanyam Gupta is increasingly taking over the responsibilities of running the company’s affairs as the future successor. Mr. Sanyam Gupta shares, “We do not compromise when it comes to quality. It is very exciting to learn from my father and my personal experience while running the company affairs. Though business suffered a bit last year due to Covid-19, we hope to do better this financial year (2021-22) and beyond.”
Regarding their future plans, Mr. Tarun Gupta briefs, “Currently, we are growing at an average annual rate of 20%. In the future, we want to trade in higher quantities, increase our brand presence further and expand our business. Because the COVID-19 pandemic situation is still uncertain, we believe it is not the right time to venture into new things. We want to wait and watch.”
