Navratan Baid, Director, Vijex Vyapaar Pvt Ltd. comments, “We are well known for our quality services and easy access. We back our sales with a committed support team that is always ready to serve customer needs and assist in ensuring our customers find exactly what they are looking for. We import quality toners mainly from Korea, Japan and China, and then sell them to resellers. We act somewhat like suppliers to suppliers. Nowadays toner is common for photocopiers and printers, particularly after the MFDs started invading the market. 10 years back it was not so—toners were different for copiers and printers. Our USPs are purity and quality of the product. There are different ways to sell products, but giving the correct and right information is the principle of a committed provider or seller. We give all the appropriate technical information to the consumer so that they can make best use of the product with ease and result—that is part and parcel of our service. Consistency in toner quality is the most important factor for generating good copy and print. We keep toner cartridge and toner in bulk for color and black of various brands and models.”
Today printer and copier market is often dominated by trends like competing models appearing within a few months intervals which demand new knowhow and new skills to service. MFDs are becoming more common. Regarding new trends, Navratan shares, “As far as the latest trends are concerned, in spite of all the hype about increasing usage of color, share of color in the printer and copier market is still marginal compared to monochrome. Another issue is, color refilling is more complex which needs greater skill and technique—any mismatch or discrepancy becomes obvious and clear. May be in future color copying and printing become more common. Next MFDs for home users are changing the market dynamics.
Nowadays most home users and small offices (SOHO) are purchasing MFDs and they are not going to commercial photocopiers. This is gradually cutting into the business of commercial copiers and printers. Once refilling cycles are over, SOHO users go for OEM cartridges. Many times these SOHO users do not even go for refilling; they simply purchase new OEM cartridges. This is changing and shifting the demand and dynamics of the market.”
Regarding channel and channel partners, Navratan clarifies, “The definitions of distribution, channel network and channel partners are different in this industry. This industry cannot be compared with other parts of IT industry. This imaging industry is still unorganized unlike other industries. Here the right placement of goods is the most important factor; not how many channel partners one has. So we focus on placing the right products at the right locations at the right time.”
Vijex’s mission is to improve the customer’s bottom line by providing high quality products and their goal is to be the most sought-after toner company by incorporating their proven reputation in encouraging innovation and growth. Regarding future goals, Navratan asserts, “We have built an image for ourselves in the market in establishing toner as a product and we want to maintain that and then expand our business further. Also, in future we hope we can hold training sessions aided by NAND IPL. Once, more and more people start showing interest in color, we can organize more training camps. This will lead to further growth of the color printing industry. Of course, this idea of conducting training for color refilling is only in the conception stage; at present, we have no specific plans on implementation.”
